Phase by phase
When to run it
- The other team plays a 2-3 zone and your guards are streaky shooters.
- You have a big who can catch at the free-throw line and pass.
- You want a shot inside ten feet against a zone.
Coaching points
- The high-post player catches facing the rim and reads the middle defender.
- The short-corner player stays on the baseline side of the bottom defender until the ball arrives.
- The weak-side slasher cuts the baseline when the back-side defender watches the ball.
Counters
- Defense: Middle defender denies the high post
- Answer: Gap the top of the zone and kick it.
- Defense: Bottom defender sticks to the short corner
- Answer: Pass to the baseline slasher.
