Drawn from real film, step by step on the clipboard. It loops by itself and the button on the court pauses it; with reduced motion on, it shows the finished play.

Phase by phase

  1. HornsTwo bigs at the elbows, guards on the wings, ball at the top.
  2. First screenThe first big screens. The guard comes off tight, shoulder to the screener.
  3. Twist backThe guard reverses off the second screen. The first screener rolls to the rim.
  4. Bounce passThe pass goes to the roller on the rim side, off the dribble if needed.
  5. ScoreLayup. If the low man steps up, the roller finds the corner.

When to run it

  • You have two bigs who set solid screens and pass.
  • The defense switches the first screen and leaves a smaller player on a big.
  • You want a second action ready when the first ball screen is denied.

Coaching points

  • Both screens are real. If the first is a fake, the defender goes under and the twist has no value.
  • The guard uses the twist to change direction, not speed.
  • The bounce pass leaves the guard's hand before the defender closes, to the rim side of the roller.

Counters

Defense: Ice the first screen
Answer: Flip to the second elbow and screen the other way.
Defense: Help from the weak-side corner
Answer: The roller kicks to the corner. Put your best shooter there.
