2 starts under the rim and walks up the lane toward the doors (4 and 5).
Phase by phase
When to run it
- You need a three late in a quarter.
- The defense switches everything and you want to stop the switch.
- You have two bigs who can screen together.
Coaching points
- The bigs start apart so the shooter can pass through. They close only after he does.
- Time the close to the shooter's second step, not the first.
- The passer reads the screeners: if a defender stays in the doors, the big rolls.
Counters
- Defense: Defender chases through the doors
- Answer: The bigs close harder and the shooter holds the cut.
- Defense: Switch after the doors close
- Answer: The rolling big has a mismatch on the smaller player.
